The i-Lounge has officially moved to the 3rd floor of the Chigusakan.

The move took place on Saturday March 4th and we are now located next to the 4th teachers’ room (第4職員室). The layout of the room is almost exactly the same, but the view from the window is much better with a lot more natural light entering the room. The ceiling lights are also brighter giving the room a more uplifting atmosphere than the previous location.

The moving process started after lunch and involved carrying a lot of heavy furniture, books and teaching materials down a long corridor and up one floor in the elevator. If the job had been left to just Craig sensei and myself, it would possibly have taken one or two days. However, thanks to the wonderful help of several very kind and considerate teachers, and of course the caretaking staff, we were able to complete the move smoothly and successfully in just a couple of hours.  The previous i-Lounge was also cleaned very thoroughly in preparation for its new purpose from the start of the next school year. THANK YOU VERY MUCH to those teachers who helped!

Although the physical labour was tiring, it also gave a sense of achievement. It is often very satisfying to use your muscles to complete a task, especially when working with others as a team.

Students (and teachers!) are welcome at the i-Lounge any time of day, to ask questions about English, do self-study, read books, study for the EIKEN test, practice English conversation, or just relax and eat their O-bento. We also have a wide selection of DVDs that students are welcome to watch and hopefully soon we will have wireless headphones to connect to the TV so students can enjoy the movies without disturbing others. Please feel free to drop by any time and say hello and see if you can spot the differences between the old i-Lounge and the new one!
