６月23日午後、東大阪市文化創造館において、本年度中学校高等学校合同の視聴覚行事として、世界的にも大変希有な「天性の男性ソプラノ歌手」の岡本知高さんと国立音楽大学及び大学院ピアノ講師の榎本潤さんをお迎えし、「岡本知高ソプラニスタ・コンサート」を開催していただきました。
生徒たちは期末試験も迫り、勉強にも疲れてきたころであったのか、コンサートの最初は少し浮かれ気味で、ユーモアと親しみを込めた話し方で接してくださる岡本さんに、手を振ったりしてお話の邪魔をしてしまうこともありました。しかし、歌が始まると、その素晴らしさに圧倒されていきました。なじみ深い唱歌である「ふるさと」、さだまさしの「一期一会」から、プッチーニのオペラ『トゥーランドット』より「誰も寝てはならぬ」、そしてカッチーニの「アヴェマリア」などをホールいっぱいに響く声で歌っていただくにつれて、生徒たちは吸い込まれるように聴き入っていました。
また、岡本さんは生徒たちに色々なメッセージを与えてくださいました。“声もそうだが、人にはそれぞれその人にしか出せない音がある”として、拍手を例に、“それぞれの音がありそれを素晴らしい音にしてみよう”と、中1から高３まで学年ごとに指導してくださいました。またご自身の生い立ちにも触れられながら、音楽を学ぶことについて特別恵まれた環境ではなかったが、自分が選んだ道に一歩踏み出すことが大切であったこと。色々なコンプレックスもあったが、願いをかなえた時に、それはその人の色、特徴であり、だれにも自分の色、自分の声があると思ったこと。樟蔭の生徒たちはそれぞれが、“何かをしよう”、“何かにがんばっている”といった雰囲気をもっている。自分が選んだ夢に向かって行ってほしい。そして、それぞれの音、それぞれの色、それぞれの笑顔を大切にするように、と言ってくだいました。
コンサートの最後に、本校の校歌を歌っていただきました。コロナウイルス感染症により、三年間入学式や卒業式でも録音での清聴であった校歌を、岡本知高さんの素晴らしい歌声で聴くことができたことは、私も含め、生徒たちの一生の思い出となったと思います。
このような形ではありますが、岡本知高さん、榎本潤さんにはこの度のご講演について、心より感謝を申し上げますとともに、歌とメッセージで伝えていただきましたことをこれからも大切に生徒たちをはぐくんでまいりたいと思います。ありがとうございました。

「2023 June 30th Principal’s blog」
It’s wonderful to sing! Thank you to Okamoto Tomotaka.

On June 23rd all Shoin students went to Higashi Osaka Cultural Creation Hall to watch the marvelous soprano opera singer Okamoto Tomotaka, accompanied by Kunitachi College of Music’s piano instructor, Enomoto Jun, as part of the school’s annual audiovisual event.
The students are currently in preparation for the end-of-term examinations, and on the day of the concert, must have been tired from studying. Nevertheless, thanks to Okamoto’s humorous and friendly way of talking, the students became excited and began waving to Okamoto and trying to attract his attention while he was talking. However, once he began to sing, the students were overwhelmed by his voice. The hall was filled and the students were consumed by the wonderful sounds of songs such as the nostalgic, “Hometown,” Sada Masashi’s famous “Once in a lifetime,” and “Turandot” from Puccini’s opera.
Mr. Okamoto delivered a number of messages to the students in his talking between songs. For example, each person has a unique voice and their own unique sound. He used clapping as an example, and encouraged each school grade to clap at his command to demonstrate the difference in sounds. He also talked about his upbringing and even though it was not an ideal environment to study music, it was important to believe in oneself, take the initiative and follow your dream. He mentioned that when he was younger, he had a complex about himself and struggled through many difficulties. But, when his dream to become an opera singer came true, he was thankful for each and every stage of his journey. He encouraged students to make efforts to follow their own dreams and cherish their own unique sounds, characteristics and smiles.
At the end of the concert, Okamoto surprised us all by singing Shoin’s school song. After three years of coronavirus restrictions and being reduced to only listening to a recording of the school’s song instead of having it sung by students, hearing Okamoto’s performance of the song has surely become an unforgettable memory for students and teachers alike.
